Manuel Pellegrini must be tearing his hair out watching Nihat Kahveci this season. The Turkish international has played just a handful of games for Villarreal, and has suffered from numerous injuries, with another one occurring recently.

This latest injury is again with his troubled right knee and will keep him out for a further four weeks, reports Marca.

Juan Albors, the club doctor, has revealed that it could have been just a two or three week lay-off, but they have made the decision to try and resolve the injury once and for all.

For that reason, he will not be available for around a month, but hopefully Pellegrini will be able to call on him again before the season finishes.

The injury problems are believed to have started back at the European Championships last year, and Nihat has repeatedly had to sit out first team action.

The match started boring nothing really happening, Semih got the first shot in the game and the keeper hung onto the ball very well. Armenia managed a long range shot and Volkan stretched alot. Turkey proceeded to attack but were unsucessful in hitting the target, Mevlut nearly opened the scoreline twice when defensive errors allowed him to be one on one with the keeper who denied one shot whilst the other flew past the post.

The second half began and turkey were rejuvenated.Kazim Kazim came on for Mevlut and was energetic going forward an amazing performance from him from the moment he was on the pitch untill the very end. Emre crossed the ball into the box and the Armenian defender headed it back and Kazim got the ball. I think you all know what happens next . Kazim passed the ball and Tuncay Şanli fired home with a close range shot. In the next few minutes Turkey was given a freekick on the side of the box, Arda fired a powerful curling shot and narrowly missed the goal. It was obvious that Turkey wasnt settling for 1-0 as predicted by Goal.com. In the 79th minute Turkey recieved a corner, Mehmet Aurelio headed the ball back to Semih who was brilliantly positioned and concentrating he touched the ball with his left foot and the keeper watched the ball hit the net. There werent many attacks by Armenia at this point. Turkey carried on attacking and got on a counter-attack. Ayhan Akman decided to go solo and blasted the ball at goal but was denied by the goal keeper a bad decision in my opionion as 3 other turkish players were waiting in the box.

Turkey are now top of group 5 with 3 points

My dear friends, I have some very disappointing and heart breaking news to bear. Today on the 5th of July, 2008, the beloved Turkish football federation president, Hasan Dogan passed away as a result of a sudden and massive heart attack. He was 52 years old.

Hasan Dogan came to power only a few months ago and was immediately loved by all. He jumpstarted programs to improve the infrastructure of some of the smaller anatolian teams and worked hard to develop the Turkish youth soccer academies. He brought a feeling of goodwill and cooperation between the many clubs of the league and can be credited with the bridging of the many gaps between the big three clubs.

Before Hasan Dogan, referees in Turkey were widely considered corrupt and lacking in quality. After Hasan Dogan, the quality of Turkish referees was considered to be better than many European referees. However Hasan Dogan was special in other ways as well. He stood for a drastic change from the old inefficient adminstration and was loved by all fans of football, no matter what team they supported. I have never heard one word of disdain or even criticism against him.

Hasan dogan leaves behind his wife and two children. May he rest in peace. Merhuma Allah’tan rahmet, kederli ailesi ve Türk futbol camiasına başsağlığı dilerim.
