Pitch still warm after Turkey’s blazing performance

September 6th, 2008 | By: Cem | 5 Comments »

The match started boring nothing really happening, Semih got the first shot in the game and the keeper hung onto the ball very well. Armenia managed a long range shot and Volkan stretched alot. Turkey proceeded to attack but were unsucessful in hitting the target, Mevlut nearly opened the scoreline twice when defensive errors allowed him to be one on one with the keeper who denied one shot whilst the other flew past the post.

The second half began and turkey were rejuvenated.Kazim Kazim came on for Mevlut and was energetic going forward an amazing performance from him from the moment he was on the pitch untill the very end. Emre crossed the ball into the box and the Armenian defender headed it back and Kazim got the ball. I think you all know what happens next :) . Kazim passed the ball and Tuncay Şanli fired home with a close range shot. In the next few minutes Turkey was given a freekick on the side of the box, Arda fired a powerful curling shot and narrowly missed the goal. It was obvious that Turkey wasnt settling for 1-0 as predicted by Goal.com. In the 79th minute Turkey recieved a corner, Mehmet Aurelio headed the ball back to Semih who was brilliantly positioned and concentrating he touched the ball with his left foot and the keeper watched the ball hit the net. There werent many attacks by Armenia at this point. Turkey carried on attacking and got on a counter-attack. Ayhan Akman decided to go solo and blasted the ball at goal but was denied by the goal keeper a bad decision in my opionion as 3 other turkish players were waiting in the box.

Turkey are now top of group 5 with 3 points

Sorry but I’m very happy that Turkey lost to us during the Euros: They played horribly in all their matches and won them by sheer luck. But fortunately there is still justice in this world.

Helmut: Anyone with eyes could see how good we were against Germany in the semi-final, we deserved to go to the finals, not a garbage Germany. We played great football against Switzerland and Croatia while Germany did not play a single minute of good football. The Germans are so lucky that we had our entired team carded by the referee, otherwise we would have EASILY beaten the Germans 5-0. Thank your god that you guys had the ability to get the referees to card all our players.

But fortunately there is still justice in this world, as Germany were completely destroyed by a Spainish side which completely shut the Germans up.

Best picture of the Euros? Watching Casillas raise the cup and the faces of the German players looking like idiots…..
